Community Service/ Outreach Activity
Each TPP participant at some point will be engaged in a community outreach program. Our reach efforts are focused on strengthening families by encouraging togetherness, providing resources, or reinforcing positive self esteem. We accomplish our outreach efforts through hosting family night at the Statesboro Mall, The Ultimate Baby Shower, Not Ashamed and 21 Can Wait.
Family Night at the Statesboro Mall brings families together to receive information about community resources and enjoy family friendly entertainment. This event takes place every 3rd Thursday.
The Ultimate Baby Shower is held quarterly in collaboration with the Statesboro Exchange Club. Medicaid mothers are showered with gifts purchased with gifts from local sponsors. TPP members prepare games and host the event while moms receive valuable information from local agencies.
21 Can Wait is a television campaign which encourages young people to wait until the age of 21 to make adult decisions regarding alcohol purchase and use. The campaign further discourages adults from purchasing these items for underage drinkers. This campaign is funded through merchandise sales as well.
Performing Arts
TPP participants will be exposed to various forms of the arts throughout the year. This exposure and training will include dance, music and theater instruction. Instruction will be in the form of classroom instruction as well as featured workshops and conferences as they become available. Workshops and conferences are offered throughout the year at a discounted rate for TPP participants. The additional fee covers the expenses of our featured presenters and instructors.
